Halton Region

Halton Region is the longest serving Smart Commute Halton member.  Since 2005, Halton Region has implemented a robust carpool parking program, installed secure bike parking and has provided its employees with a corporate transit pass.  All these efforts have started to make a difference in employee commuting habits.


City of Burlington

 

 

A long time member of Smart Commute, the City of Burlington has implemented several progressive initiatives to encourage sustainable transportation.  Since joining the program, the City has installed sheltered bike lockers, bike wall racks and a discount transit pass to any employee who gives up their parking space.  They are also a proud partner of this year’s Bike to Work Day and held 2 successful cycling workshops this past fall.

 

Town of Halton Hills

 

Since joining Smart Commute in April 2011, Halton Hills has made a true impact within the program.  In its inaugural year, the Town won the Smart Commute Halton Employer of the Year Award 2011 for dedication to the program, as well as, to sustainability.  The Town has installed secure bike parking and is currently developing an innovative employee bike share program. This year, they also extended the Smart Commute program to other Town buildings, including the Acton Library, fire hall and community centre.

Town of Milton

 

An original Smart Commute Halton member, the Town of Milton continues to be one of the program’s leading employers.  Currently, 20% of their employees are registered in Carpool Zone, with 6 registered carpools. The Town has also participated in the annual Clean Air Commute. 

Town of Oakville

 

As a past Smart Commute Halton Champion of the Year recipient, the Town of Oakville has been a leader in sustainable commuting options for years.  The Town offers their employees a discount on their transit passes and upfront parking for carpoolers.  The Town of Oakville has also delivered years of successful Clean Air Commute campaigns.

Morguard

 

 

 

 

As a member of the Smart Commute Halton program since 2010, Morguard investments has made a positive impact on commuter behaviour change as a property manager. Earlier this year, they took their commitment one step further and installed 3 preferential carpool parking spots at the main entrance of their buildings. 

Sheridan College

 

DeGroote School of Business

 

In conjunction with launching their internal Smart Commute program, DeGroote participated in last year’s Clean Air Commute,  and the results speak for themselves!  DeGroote had the highest provincial Clean Air Commute participation rate for its size category.

Hatch

 

State Farm

State Farm has been a member of Smart Commute Halton since April 2010.  Since their launch, employees have embraced the program.  State Farm dedicates a great deal of effort to providing sustainable transportation solutions for all their employees, promoting environmental awareness, and helping to reduce the company’s carbon footprint. Their lastest outreach event proved to be successful with 30 current Carpool Zone users and 6 active carpools!

Tim Hortons

 

 

 

Like their suitability logo states: “Making a true difference”, Tim Hortons’ employees have done just that.  Since joining the Smart Commute program in September 2011, their carpool program has taken off.  With carpool parking at each of their head office buildings, Tim Hortons has seen their employees positively embrace Carpool Zone.  Tim Hortons was recognized at this year's Smart Commute Awards as the Halton Region Employer of the Year!

Roxul

 

The leading manufacturer of stone fibre insulation, Roxul is a household name within the Milton community.  Since their first meeting with our Smart Commute team, Roxul has been an incredible supporter of the program. A great indication of this was the overwhelming participation in their start up survey – achieving one of the highest survey response rates last year.

L3-Wescam

 

In the past year, L3 wescam has truly embraced the Smart Commute program.  Immediately following their program launch event,  9 carpools were created between their two Burlington locations.  Since then, they have hosted lunch and learns, additional outreach events, and are currently working with Smart Commute to continue to improve sustainable transportation services on site.

Willard Meats

Although one of the smallest employers in the Smart Commute program, employees at Willard Meats’ have made a wonderful impact on the program.  They were recognized for having the highest participation rate for employers under 200 for Clean Air Commute in 2012.

Burlington Chamber of Commerce

 

A leader in the Burlington Business community, the Chamber of Commerce is one of the programs newest members, providing the program with a unique perspective in delivering its services to businesses of all sizes.  This year, the Chamber is a proud partner of Bike to Work Day.

St. Mildred's-Lightbourn School

 

As one of Smart Commute Halton's most recent members, St. Mildred's-Lightbourn School is dedicated to promoting sustainable commuter behaviour within their workforce. Their program launched in August 2012 with 32 Carpool Zone users and 3 carpools created on site!

Cogeco

 

Another new recruit to the Smart Commute Halton program as of 2012, Cogeco brings a strong passion for green initiatives and employee wellness to the program. They had a successful program launch in November 2012 with an impressive 60 people signing up to Carpool Zone on the first day!
